Position Summary

Wateen Telecom Limited seeks a dedicated/qualified and experienced resource with a minimum of four (04) years of post-qualification experience working on corporate and commercial transactions and corporate advisory work to join its legal team. The resource shall have experience in drafting and managing legal documents, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing legal support on a wide range of corporate legal matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, focusing on compliance with local and international laws, and effectively mitigate potential risks/exposure
  • Draft and review legal documents including, but not limited to, RFPs, legal notices and correspondence, applications, and petitions
  • Conduct legal research, identify and provide updates on case law, legislative requirements, and applicable laws and regulations that may impact the company and its subsidiaries
  • Provide legal advice to cross-functional stakeholders on commercial issues, including advising on legal risks and liabilities associated with different commercial arrangements
  • Liaison and maintain trademark filings, and renewal of trademarks and copyrights (local and international)
  • Support pre-litigation dispute management, helping to prepare documentation, maintaining an organised database of ongoing legal cases and liaising with external counsel

Required Skills

  • Strong legal research and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Education & Experience

  • External L.L.B or equivalent law degree with at least four (4) years post-qualification experience in law firm or as in-house counsel. Preference will be given to candidates holding LLM degrees with prior in-house counsel experience
